July 28 Softwares - Internet Explorer 7 BETA 3, Windows Media Player 11 BETA, Windows Live Messenger 8, Bittorent 4.20.4Recently, me installed these 4 supposely to be great software that has created so much fuss about it. This is my stand and point of view as a regular PC user who dunno much about the new stuff. Internet Explorer 7 (Google It) (Wikipedia) suprised me with it's default super simple interface. Me couldn't even find the toolbar at first, After googled around, only me know that we need to press "Alt" to bring back the toolbar, and change some setting to enable the toolbar forever. The zoom in - zoom out feature in IE7 works very well, but everytime me wanna open a new tab, it just open another window of IE7. Also, all the add-ons in IE6 were gone, and we need to enable them one by one in IE7 for them to work. IE7 would occasionally crash when me click on View -> Explorer Bar -> RSS Feed. So, till now, me still couldn't use it's RSS feature but this time, we can change the default search engine with simple clicks. All in all, it's a great web browser if we were to do simple web browsing. Let's wait for the final version to come out and all the errors me pointed out should be fixed. Screenshot were taken from various sources.   - Windows Media Player 11 (Google It) (Wikipedia) has almost same interface with the previous version albeit a bit uncluttered. It now feature good intergration with URGE Music Store (Google It) (Wikipedia) and also other online music stores. Unfortunately, most of them only works in the United State. WMP11 somehow do not fetch songs information from the internet anymore, despite the various setting for it. Hope this is fixed in the final version of the software. Screenshot were taken from various sources.   - Windows Live Messenger 8 (Google It) (Wikipedia) now has a better, cleaned interface and new feature such the shared folder, the long waited offline message and soon the ability to talk with our Yahoo! Messenger (Google It) (Wikipedia) friends, and improved voice and video chat. A must upgrade (it's free, why not?) for anyone who communicate using the MSN network and Yahoo! network. Screenshot were taken from various sources.   Bittorrent 4.20.4 (Google It) (Wikipedia) differs greatly from the previous version. Even the logo has changed to cool blue to ugly green. Me cant seems to find my share ratio for a particular torrent. It however, still sufficient and uses less resources compared to other client. Screenshot were taken from various sources.  Gadgets - HP iPAQ hw6515eMe finally settled down on HP iPAQ hw6515e (Google It) as my primary phone after changing and experimeting with various types of phones (see below for the list of said phones), and sold my PDA HP iPAQ h2210 (Google It). Me is the types of person who want functions and features over design and physical appearances no matter what me wish to own, including girlfriend muahahahaha~. - Sony Ericsson k800i (Google It). Cons: Too simple, cant do much.
- Nokia N70 (Google It). Overall a very good phone with superb features, it has become my secondary phone.
- Nokia N71 (Google It). Cons: Still new OS platform, not much softwares for it.
- O2 XDA II Mini (Google It). Cons: Same old PDA phone, my old HP iPAQ h2210 can do all the stuff it can do expect phonecall and SMS-ing.
- Dopod 577w (Google It). Cons: What the heck a PDA-like phone without touch screen? Navigating make my ass pain. Presenting my current champion - the great HP iPAQ hw6515e   Pros: EDGE network support. Built-in GPS. Built-in keyboard. Familiar WM2003SE OS. Compact design includes a plastic screen cover to protect the screen.
Cons: Unusual 240x240 screen resolution rendering many games dont work well. No WiFi. Average camera. May 21 Gadget - Nokia 32502 weeks ago, me bought myself a Nokia 3250 (Google It), to replace the old Nokia 6260 (Google It). Mine is the pure black version, as you can see in the pictures below.     March 02 The journey to another internet protection security suite! (and back...)After 24th February 2006's Norton LiveUpdate (Google It), suddenly it ask me for product key and renewal code. Me was like wtf wrong with Norton?! So me think it's maybe the time for me to try another security suite by another vendor - this time me tried McAfee Security Suite 2006 (Google It). The installation process and registering with McAfee was a breeze process. HOWEVER! The updating process is a real pain in the a55! Each of the module need to be updated seperately and each update need my computer to be restarted! The total of restart that McAfee had made is 8 and it even haven finish updating. Me finally got fedup of updating and since the VirusScan portion is updated, me decided to give it some test. Me inserted a memory card into my card reader, that has some viruses on it. Norton was able to detect it as soon as the memory card is inserted but not with McAfee!!! McAfee does not provide real-time protection??? The McAfee anti-spyware detected so many positive false entries, TightVNC, a remote desktop application, is considered a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP)! It able to detect "SpywareStrike", and a couple of trojans, but failed to remove it! And then the Firewall Plus is a sheet. Me allowed all my web server and mysql to have full access to the internet but still, each PC restart, me still need to allow them to have full access to the internet AGAIN via the dem firewall! Finally me decided to uninstall the whole McAfee sheet and reinstall Norton and register it. After all the fuss, my computer is now infested with stupid Spyware Falcon (a stupid spyware pretend to be a anti-spyware) and my USB ADSL modem cannot auto-redail if the connection to the internet is lost. Help me T_T... McAfee sheet is definately not worth the USD50 price tag! Sorry Symantec, for being unfaithful to you...

This superb file explorer has getting even better! Resco Explorer 2005 (Google It), currently at version v5.35, includes long-waited "Recycle Bin" features! Have you ever accidently deleted something on your cards just to find it unrecoverable easily? You can still recover your files on your memory cards by using some memory cards data recovery tools found on the net... But what the heck, Resco Explorer reserved 10% of your memory cards space for the Recycle Bin by default and by this, we wont worry about accidently deleted files again. Although this is quite useful for those with large memory cards, people who have small memory or people who backup frequently wont wanna this feature, you can turn off this feature easily in the options setting.

Finally after a night of searching and installing various RSS reader, me came across a freeware pRSSreader (Google It), even better than some shareware! The main strenght of this RSS reader is it's customization.

Although still in BETA, this fast and easy checkup tool not only checks for viruses but also the condition of your computer, live update status and free space on your HDD. On the first checkup, u need to install an activeX control to enable the scanning engine to run. It is advisable to do this checkup at least once a month, you dun want your computer's problem become critical until it's too late dun you? Although Systemworks is known as a memory hogger, it done it jone very very well. Get this only you know you need the high level of protection it offer and if you have 512MB of RAM. User of current 2005 version may wanna upgrade to 2006 as it provide more control of the program and a few additional protection modules, and a better graphical interface too. Most obvious is the new BIG Norton tab on the taskbar which may annoy user with low resolution screen (800x600) as it may too big about 1/6 of your taskbar. Luckly, you can move this tab to the icon bar...  November 25 Software - Webroot's Spy SweeperRecently, me having really big problem with Webroot's Spy Sweeper (Google It) hence me stop using it. It crash with other anti-spyware product in my computer, the Spyware Doctor (Google It) by PCTools (Google It), and makes almost all application in my computer unable to start. Uninstalling it clear my headache. Currently searching for another anti-spyware beside Spyware Doctor. Better safe than sorry... You wont notice it if you leave your computer and windows without running some program (Why would we do that? If we are not doing anything with the computer, we better off just turn off the computer, right?)
My main work horse computer is running 24/7 unless there's blackout, which in case my UPS still able to powering the computer for a mere 30 minutes. The main purpose of the computer is to serve as a mini web server with php, mysql and some other basic component, with posibility of asp.net, ftp and pop3 in the future. And thus, me need it to run 24/7, with most of the time, me leave it alone. Unfortunately when me back to check it's state, sometimes it become so slow that me need to restart it.
After some reading and investigation, me install this little application from TweakNow.com called RAM Idle LE (Google It). After installing and little configuring, it sits on the taskbar, freeing up RAM every 4 minutes default. If you are using low end or slow computer, you will notice that your computer become slow while the program freeing up RAM, so it is recommended that you enable it only when you are away from the computer and disable it when you wanna use the computer. Works great for me.

You can read what's new in the version here but what's really cool is the new windows explorer style of displaying items, and the ability to burn zipped files to CD-R or DVD-R directly within Winzip. All fans who fond with sci-fi story should really watch it. Can't wait for the second season of the show to come out on DVD... The 4400 tells the stories of 4,400 abductees after they are returned to earth, but they ended up being abducted by people from the future to save mankind. In the words of the executive producers, these are stories of people dealing with traumatic changes, driven by the mystery of what happened and why. Some of them have been affected in mysterious ways, and some will have certain abilities, both good and bad, so part of the drama will be watching them adjust to these changes within themselves. The series kicks off with a ball of light sailing toward Earth, but rather than the expected catastrophic event, thousands of returned abductees are left with no memory of their otherworldly experiences. Each has been gone anywhere from a few months to several decades but hasn't aged a day.   October 11 Software - Nero Premier 7Thanks to an article on CDRInfo.com, me get to know that the most popular multimedia and burning tool, Nero had just released a new version of their flagship product - the Nero Premier 7 (Google It).
